India-Canada row: Transnational repression or fostering of terrorism? | DW News

Shockwaves are spreading in a major diplomatic standoff between Canada and India. Canada says it has credible evidence that the Indian government was involved in the killing of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil last year. Hardeep Singh Najjar was killed in June 2023 in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Canada says it identified a top Indian diplomat in connection with the killing, and expelled him and other Indian officials earlier this week. India has rejected the accusations, expelling Canada's top envoy and five others in return. A similar case has now cropped up in the US, where authorities have accused an Indian national of trying to arrange the killing of a Sikh separatist lawyer who holds both US and Canadian citizenship. Indian officials are due to meet US counterparts over the case of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. DW Washington Correspondent Ines Pohl interviewed Pannun on the case. #India #Kanada #Khalistan Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutschewelleenglish?sub_confirmation=1 For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/deutschewellenews/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/dwnews ►Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dwnews ►Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/dwnews_hangout Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: https://www.youtube.com/dwdeutsch
