Government to allow 30-year mortgages for 1st-time buyers of new builds

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has announced that as of August, first-time buyers of newly built homes will be able to take out insured mortgages with a 30-year amortization period. Freeland says this will translate to lower monthly payments for young people buying homes.
