In tonight’s top story: It was a murder case that unraveled Canada’s relationship with India, after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau blamed agents of the Indian state in a highly unusual move. Three Indian nationals have now been arrested in connection to the case. As Jeff Semple reports, the arrests further complicate Canada’s already fraught relationship with India. The arrests have major national security implications in Canada. A number of issues have been brought to light as a result, including how the individuals were able to get into this country and remain here without being detected. Mercedes Stephenson has that story. The public inquiry into foreign interference released its first report on Friday, more than a year after the first call went out to hold an inquiry into foreign interference attempts in Canada’s elections. As David Akin reports, the inquiry’s commissioner said foreign interference did not change the outcomes of the 2019 and 2021 elections, but called it a “stain” on the country's electoral process. Protests against the conflict in Gaza are spreading across Canadian university campuses. Demonstrators at the University of Toronto (UofT) were told to leave by 10 p.m. on Thursday night — but the school says the protesters won’t be removed as long as they remain peaceful. Meanwhile, the encampment at McGill University has spread to a seventh day as demonstrators vow to remain until their demands are met. Neetu Garcha reports. The pursuit for the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s ultimate prize – the Walter Cup – is heating up. Three teams are chasing the final two playoff positions this weekend.
