The last Mohawk code talker died in 2019. He was one of 17 known code talkers from Akwesasne Mohawk Territory who served in WW II and the only one to have received recognition for his service while still alive. Code talkers were often used as scouts on classified missions. Their lethal missions were vital to victory in WW II.
