Northern Alberta sawmill convicted in death of worker, fined nearly $300K
La Crete Sawmills Ltd., convicted this month in the 2022 death of a sawmill worker, has been ordered to pay a creative sentence of $295,000. The money will be used by a school division to provide workplace safety training to high-school students.
