It was a bright day with blue skies at the foot of the Newfoundland Regiment caribou memorial that stands tall overlooking the lush green mounds of Beaumont-Hamel — fitting for a packed ceremony to bring home an unknown solider to Newfoundland more than 100 years after the First World War.
